LOVE ALL Scholarship 2023 Recipient Hanna Dessie
Meet Hanna Dessie, a 20-year-old Los Angeles native who graduated high school from the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in the South of France and is a current student at Howard University, working to become a professional tennis player and multi-hyphenate global talent.
Hanna attended the Debbie Allen Dance Academy in Los Angeles for 13 years, leading her into the entertainment industry she’s become incredibly passionate about. Her achievements since working in the industry include performing at the White House, Oscars, and Kennedy Center, acting in commercials for Chevrolet and Gap, as well as dancing in Tyler Perry’s Netflix film “A Jazzman’s Blues.” She was named “Dancer of the Week” in an article by PrettyBrownDancers and has been featured in stories by Essence Magazine, BET, and Refinery 21.
After two weeks of training at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in the South of France, Hanna became the first person to receive a scholarship to the school in its 27-year history making her the inaugural recipient of the Love All Scholarship, in partnership with the Kodjoe Family Foundation, Tennis Channel, and Patrick Mouratoglou. Following her time in France, Hanna also received support and sponsorship from Dunlop. She starred in an episode of TenniStory detailing her experience in France which she hopes will inspire youth and young adult audiences to be ambitious, assiduous, and amiable.
Although juggling being an athlete and entertainer, she has found time to fall in love with Taekwondo where she’s achieved a 2nd-degree black belt, playing the drums, and most importantly, civic engagement.
