Back to Work: Study Week, Tournament Ahead
May is a convergence point. The academic calendar and the competitive calendar are running simultaneously, both demanding full attention, and Junior is navigating the overlap with the kind of discipline that has been building since January. This week: the books. Next week: the draw. The sequencing is intentional, the focus is real, and the preparation on both fronts is deliberate.
Getting back to the courts after any break — whether academic, physical, or competitive — requires a re-calibration period. Junior knows this. “Getting back to play” has its own process: resetting the footwork patterns, re-sharpening the competitive instincts, letting the muscle memory reconnect. He’s doing that this week alongside his study commitments.
The Dual Investment
The Love All Scholarship is explicit about this dual investment: it’s not just about tennis, and it was never just about tennis. Junior’s grades matter to the KFF because Junior’s future extends beyond the last match of his playing career. Academic performance is career infrastructure. This week of study focus isn’t a diversion from the athletic journey — it’s part of the same journey. Follow along next Tuesday for the tournament update.
“This week I focused more on my studies — getting better grades. Tournament is next week. I’m ready.” — Junior Hakizumwami
