First Win, First Tournament
Junior Hakizumwami’s Keiser University Seahawks played their first tournament of the season this week, and Junior came away with something real to show for it. “I’m making progress with school work and playing our first tournament,” he said. “It was a really good, great experience.”
The Win That Mattered
Weeks of classes, practices, and “preparing for the match” finally turned into a result Junior could name himself: “I got my first win and I’m really happy with the attitude and the discipline that I’ve shown throughout the tournament.” It’s the first time this season a match outcome has landed in his own words, and true to form, he’s crediting it to how he carried himself as much as the scoreline.
The Atmosphere
Junior didn’t just win, he noticed the moment around it. “The atmosphere, the energy was amazing,” he said of his first tournament as a Seahawk. That’s the detail a stat sheet never captures: the point where a new campus, a new team, and a new country start to feel less new and more like where he belongs.
Discipline Is the Story
It would be easy to lead with the scoreline. Junior led with the discipline instead: the attitude, the preparation, the daily habits a win only confirms rather than creates. That’s the same throughline that’s carried him from Kigali to Biot to Florida, and it’s exactly what the LOVE ALL Scholarship exists to fund, not one result, but the steady discipline that makes results like this one possible, week after week.
