Seventeen-year-old Shane Hines, a junior from Los Angeles, California, has been on a steady climb in his tennis journey since he first picked up a racket at age 10. What began as daily training sessions quickly evolved into competitive tournament play, fueled by Shane’s passion and drive for the sport.
Known for his aggressive style of play, Shane thrives on using his forehand as his biggest weapon — a shot that has become both his strength and his signature. With every match, he brings not only skill but also the confidence and presence that set him apart on the court.
The Impact of the Love All Scholarship
For Shane, being selected as a Love All Scholarship recipient was a transformative moment.
“I was really excited. I felt like the scholarship was a really good opportunity for me.”
The program gave him consistency in his training, allowing him to work with his coach three times a week while also offering valuable opportunities to travel and compete in new environments. This structure and support helped Shane refine his game and grow both as a player and as a person.
“I think the scholarship really helped me with that because I was able to train consistently.”
Looking Ahead
Before receiving the scholarship, Shane already dreamed of playing college tennis. With the growth and experience he gained this past year, that dream has become reality — he recently earned an offer from Howard University.
“I’m really proud of myself. I think I grew a lot this year.”
With his relentless work ethic, love for the game, and the foundation of confidence he’s built, Shane Hines is stepping into the next chapter of his tennis career — ready to compete, grow, and shine.
